WINTERBIVOUAC
WINTERBIVAK

Dré Wapenaar in his speech at the International Design Conference,Aspen Colorado, june 2001:

"I set up the WINTERBIVOUAC from the archetypical idea of sitting around the fire, telling stories, or just staring at the flames. We've done this since dawn of mankind. The fire as a metaphor for binding people, despite their knowing of each other. With this I learned something about social implications of a work. The tent was approached as being sculpted. It has a strong sculptural impact combined with the orange red color relating with the fire-stove inside, which also serves to signal the tent against a winter's landscape. Imagine trying to find your white tent in a snow covered field."
